Living in a community with no HOA (homeowner’s association) has its advantages and disadvantages. We thought it would be great without dealing with a board of over controlling freaks and old people who are retired that have nothing else to do with their lives but pretend to rule everyone’s elses lives.
Well we have slowly come to the conclusion that living in a community with an HOA isn’t really that bad. Back in Jersey, it was horrid! As we are finding out here in AZ, the HOA’s are ran differently and keep the peace within the neighborhood.
For instance, our neighbors kids feel the need to use our front yard as their own whenever they want and when I make my appearance, they scatter. Our other neighbor plays with the extension of his penis, also known as his motorcycle for hours at a time! At least back east, neighbors had consideration and the sense that playing with your motorcycle at 11pm is not what everyone wants to hear. He is CONSTANTLY playing, prodding, poking and who knows what else!
Why does it bother me? Because I do spend a large amount of my time in my home office studying and running my business and it has turned into a constant annoyance. For example:
: Phone: Ring Ring
:Me: Hello
:Neighbor: horrible sounding motorcycle, ticktick tick tick tock spat spat, AARRGGGHH
:Client : Is everything ok there?
:Me: Yes, I apologize; I work from a home office.
How unprofessional does that sound? So I am hoping in the next 6 months to be away from the crazy neighbors and hopefully in a new community where there are some rules about property boundaries and motorcycles at night. It wouldn’t be that bad if my neighbor closed the exhaust a little but he isn’t that smart obviously and he’s a PSYCHO with a mean streak. So before you say, “Why don’t you just ask him nicely to be considerate?” There is NO CONSIDERATION or the other way I like to describe it, “AZ is not the brightest of the bunch.”
